Burr..... Winter is on its way and so are the holidays. A great way to fight the cold and help your kids succeed in school is to snuggle up and read a good book. (Maybe even make some hot chocolate!)

Attention deficit and hyperactivity (ADHD) can effect a child's focus when reading and learning phonemic awareness. Next week is ADHD week. Here is an article about ADHD and reading. Many of the tips are useful for all children, not just those diagnosed with ADHD.

I strongly encourage parents to sign up and attend the Parenting for School Success nights hosted by Irving and Longfellow schools. The yellow sign up forms came home last Friday. The dates are September 18, September 25, October 2, and October 9. The program is free and includes dinner and child care.
